Beaufort Soil & Water Conservation District is made up of a volunteer board of five commissioners, two appointed by the state and three elected in the general election. Four associate commissioners volunteer their experience and expertise to the board of commissioners.

Born and raised in central New York. Lived in New Hampshire for 28 years where she and her husband raised their family. Relocated to Beaufort in 2016. She loves the beach (especially finding shark teeth) and entertaining house guests. Through the Conservation District she values sharing the importance of protecting our natural resources.
Born and raised in Beaufort, SC, currently living on Coosaw Island with her husband, three children, cats, dogs, ducks, and rabbits. Sara holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Southern New Hampshire University with a Certification in Natural Resource Conservation. She is also a graduate student at Clemson University in the Fisheries and Wildlife Management program. Member of Friends of Hunting Island, volunteers with DNR SCORE team, is an Advisor with Seaside Sustainability, and on the Lower Savannah-Salkehatchie River Basin Council. Believes service and stewardship are building blocks to environmental outreach and education. When she has free time, she enjoys spending time in the river kayaking and fishing.
Michelle was born and raised in the Southeast and holds a BA in Environmental Studies from UNC Chapel Hill. She's worked for various environmental nonprofit organizations, both in the U.S. and internationally. Michelle is also a Certified Yoga and Meditation teacher. She spends much of her time outdoors enjoying the beautiful landscape of the Lowcountry.
